The first electronic Pennant has been released if you did not get the email you can get the copy from this link https://www.nusc.co.uk/Nuscwp/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/THE-PENNANT-MAY-2020.pdf
Doug Mccloud wrote a log of his journey to Denmark one summer. It is been passed to NUSC via Glyn Sutton who has edited it for publication in an upcoming Pennant article. The full version is available on the website here.
The Ladies night that was postponed in February due to poor weather is currently being reviewed. Due to the other existing events that are already planned we are trying to find a time when we can arrange the event. This time will be released shortly.
The type of event is to be changed we will now be planning an afternoon Tea which will be served to the Ladies of the club, where refreshments and small snacks will be served by the Men of the club.
(Offer sent in from Paul and Shann Rimmer)
See below a cracking offer that my good friend Ben Sutcliffe Davies has put forward for all NUSC members and their families.
Ben is a well known surveyor who has performed surveys for a number of our members in the past. He is actually at the show this year as a guest speaker on pre-purchase surveys which is how he can offer us the deal below:

The Cruise in company to Bristol, is this weekend 6th May to the 8th May.
If you are interested in joining Barry can you please let him know by Wednesday.
Many of you who have completed your membership renewal and received your Year Book or have picked up an Events Calendar from the club may have already noticed that we are planning an Open Day for Saturday 29th June 2019.
The key drivers behind this event are to:
Increase membership by attracting existing sail boat owners to register and sail at our club
Increase membership by attracting individuals who wish to act as crew and thereby learn to sail
Engage existing members in supporting the above objectives
I am therefore contacting you with regard to point 3 above, an initial working group has already been convened, with Kate Davies, as the Group Leader and I will be there to support as Deputy.
There are many exciting ideas in plan for the day but there is much to do to turn these initial ideas into reality, this is where I hope I can ask for and rely on your help and support.
Whilst there is this central planning group, which will meet fortnightly on a Tuesday, next meeting 7.30pm 16th April, more members are needed, as to bring these aspirations to life will require smaller focused groups to link in e,g, Catering, Welcome Groups, Tour of Club & Facilities, Sailing Opportunities, Equipment & Merchandising Sales, Presentations on various topics etc etc
I hope some established members and particularly new members will want to support the open day. If so please come along to our next meeting 7:30pm Tuesday 16th April. A warm welcome will await you
Kind Regards
Martin Lennnon,
Commodore
Here is the map of road closures for the 3rd March 2019. Majority of roads around Newport should be open by 12pm and all should be open by 1pm.

The last Cruise in Company of the 2018 season was to Bristol at the end of September, which coincided with the Bristol Heritage Festival. Only two boats (Seawitch & & Splatz) made the trip but it was a good one.
